Finding Restoration: When Life Feels Like a Fire Alarm
Hey everyone,
Life has a way of throwing unexpected curveballs, doesn't it? Sometimes it feels like the universe is setting off a 3:30 AM fire alarm right outside your door – literally, in my case, with a neighbor's house fire just a few days ago. Other times, it's the quiet, persistent hum of personal challenges: health scares, legal hurdles, or just the daily grind of showing up when you feel completely drained.
But amidst it all, I'm learning to find moments of "Restore 2026."
Just this past weekend, my family and I immersed ourselves in the incredible energy of Winter Jam. There's something truly powerful about standing in a stadium, surrounded by thousands, singing out your praise. What made it even more special? Sharing that experience with a dear friend and her significant other, Witnessing their joy, especially my deaf friend experiencing the music in her own profound way, was a reminder that true restoration often comes when we pour into others.
It’s been a season of deep personal work for me. For the past two years, I've been on probation, facing serious challenges, including a no-contact order with my son and daughter and an upcoming hearing in Mesa County, Colorado, regarding my daughter. It’s been tough, requiring immense focus and consistency.
But here’s the amazing news: I am three months away from completing my probation on May 6, 2026! Just recently, I received an official letter from my probation officer confirming I am in full compliance, with eight consecutive negative drug/ alcohol screens, and no warrants found. Filing this letter with the court for my upcoming hearings feels like a massive step forward on the "scarlet cord" God has laid out for my family's reunification.
This journey isn't just about legal battles or health management (like keeping an eye on my retinopathy and Type 1 Diabetes). It's about showing up every single day at my job and as a wife and mom, even after a migraine or a stressful night. It’s about learning to trust that even when things are hard, perseverance pays off.
This past Sunday, even with the Super Bowl and serving at church by learning the children's check-in (a great way to get more involved!), I made the conscious choice to prioritize rest, heading home at halftime. It’s a small thing, but those choices protect my sound mind and ensure I can keep showing up.
So, if you're reading this and feel like you're in the middle of your own fire alarm moment, or just facing a long, uphill climb:
*Keep going. Every day you show up is a victory.
* Look for the small joys. They are everywhere, especially when you share them.
*Trust the process. Even when it feels slow, progress is happening.
I’d love to hear your stories of finding Restoration in your own life! *What's one victory, big or small, you've experienced recently? Share it in the comments below!
Let's uplift each other as we all journey toward our own finish lines.
